Recently, a video of a classic commercial starring legendary actor Dharmendra and the popular motorcycle of the time, the Ambassador, has surfaced.

This old ad was uploaded to YouTube. The video begins with Dharmendra riding and drifting on a red or orange Ambassador motorcycle. After the stop, the actor says the legendary ambassador in the motorcycle segment has no answer. Then another ambassador appears on a heavily laden motorbike.

Ambassador of one of the oldest brands
After that, the actor points to the passing ambassador and says that the bike is so strong that it can carry an enormous weight. The bike is shown with heavy equipment. Following this snippet, the video features the actor mentioning that there is no hassle for maintenance and that is why the brand is trusted by millions of people across the country. He then says that the Ambassador is a proud ride. Towards the end a lady can be seen giving the actor an autograph. Ambassador is one of the oldest motorcycle brands in the country, and while the company doesn’t currently produce motorcycles, it still remains in the public eye. A few years ago a video of a fully restored Rajdoot SHL M11 motorcycle was shared on YouTube.

The video was uploaded to their YouTube channel by Old Pistons Garage. The video begins by depicting a scrapped Rajdoot motorcycle covered in dust. The video then shows the entire process of taking the bike from a worn condition to like-new condition. The video also shows the restorer installing the same 175cc two-stroke engine. The two-stroke engine is coupled to a three-speed manual gearbox and is extremely simple in design. The engine produces around 7.5 hp peak power and 12.7 Nm peak torque.

As mentioned, the bike featured in the video is a 1969 model SHL M11 and the bike was manufactured in Poland at the time. The motorcycle division of the Escorts Group, after receiving a license, began manufacturing the Polish motorcycle SHL M11 175cc under the brand name Ambassador from 1962.
