Stock market close: The Indian stock market closed on Tuesday 31st January for the second consecutive day with a strong rise. Although the sensex started on a decline. But it gained momentum as business progressed, and eventually both major indices — the Sensex and Nifty — closed with gains. The broader market rallied more than Sensex-Nifty. The BSE Smallcap Index closed up 2.30% today. In contrast, the midcap index increased by 1.47 percent. In the industry indices, the index for telecommunications and utility stocks each rose by more than 2 percent. At the same time there was a good rise in commodities, FMCG, energy, metals and bank stocks. In contrast, the indices for oil & gas, IT and pharmaceutical stocks closed today with losses. Investors have earned around Rs. 20 trillion or Rs. 2 lakhcrore in today’s trading on the back of the general market rally.
At the close of trade, the BSE Sensex closed at 59,549.90, up 49.49 points or 0.083%. On the other hand, NSE’s Nifty rose 33.35 points, or 0.19%, to close at 17,682.30.
Investors received a benefit of 2 lakh crores
The total market capitalization of companies listed on the BSE rose to Rs 270.49 lakh crore on Tuesday 31st January from Rs 268.47 lakh crore on the previous trading day i.e. Rs. In this way, the market capitalization of companies listed on the BSE has increased by approximately Rs. 2.02 crore today. Or in other words, investors wealth has increased by Rs 2.02 lakh crore today.
These 5 Sensex stocks have gained the most today
17 out of 30 Sensex stocks closed up today. The SBI share recorded the maximum increase of 3.45 percent. After that, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Ultratech Cement, Power Grid and ITC were the biggest gainers, closing with gains of between 2.16% and 3.41%.

These 5 Sensex stocks have fallen the most today
On the other hand, 13 Sensex stocks closed today. Again, the maximum drop of 2.29% was seen in Bajaj Finance stock. Apart from that, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharma and Asian Paints also ended down between 1.24 percent and 2.22 percent today.

2,439 shares closed with gains today
More stocks closed with gains on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today. A total of 3,625 scrips were traded on the exchange today. Of those, 2,439 stocks closed with gains. At the same time, there was a decline in 1,057 shares. While 129 stocks closed flat with no ups or downs.
