The bikes in this segment are far ahead when it comes to sales. The Honda Shan 100 is the latest addition to the most desirable 100cc commuter motorcycle segment in the Indian two-wheeler market. It was recently launched by Honda.
Hero MotoCorp’s Splendor Plus and HF Deluxe are already very popular in this segment. Bajaj Auto also sells the Platina 100 in the same segment. Honda Shine 100 is the newest bike. Obviously it is not easy to place yourself in the segment. The company claims that the Honda Shan 100 will boast the highest mileage, while the Platina still has the edge in this matter. Honda Shine 100 engine and mileage
The Honda Shine 100 has received an all-new 99.7cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 7.6hp and 8.05Nm of torque. This engine is manufactured to BS6 Phase 2 and E20 fuel. What is special is that the bike has a fuel pump installed outside of the tank itself, which can be easily repaired in the event of a failure. It also gets an auto-choke feature, allowing for smooth bike starts even at low temperatures. Honda is yet to announce mileage but claims the Shine 100 comes with class-leading fuel efficiency.

Bajaj Platina 100 engine and mileage
Bajaj Platina 100 has the largest engine in the segment at 102cc, larger than Hero Splendor Plus and Hero HF Deluxe. This air-cooled single-cylinder engine produces a peak power of 7.9 hp and a peak torque of 8.3 Nm. Apparently it is more powerful than the Honda Shine 100 and also produces more torque. Honda Shine 100 and Bajaj Platina 100 motorcycles will get a four-speed manual transmission. The company states that there are more than 70 km of mileage.
price difference
Pricing for the Honda Shine 100 starts at £64,900 showroom showroom while the Bajaj Platina 100 starts at £67,475 showroom showroom. In terms of price, the Platina is a bit expensive. If you want to buy a better looking bike, Honda Shine 100 can be a good option, but if you want to prioritize mileage, Bajaj Platina is better.
