EV charging station: Now the sale of electric vehicles in the country is increasing rapidly. Meanwhile, a leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer in the country has announced plans to set up hundreds of charging stations across the country. Bangalore-based electric vehicle company Ather Energy has announced plans to build 1,000 charging stations across the country. Ather Energy calls its charging stations “Ather Grid”. The company claims that its charging stations will surpass 2,500 by the end of this year.

Currently, the limited number of charging stations is one of the main reasons why people are reluctant to buy an electric vehicle. Ather Energy has also released its charging connector IP to all OEMs, paving the way for an interoperable two-wheel fast charging platform. This means that electric vehicles from any company can now be charged at the Ather Energy charging station. As of now, only Hero MotoCorp’s Vida uses Ather’s charging connector.

Ather strategically placed these grids in cities to make traveling between cities easier. The company claims customers can now easily plan a trip from Pune to Mumbai, from Siliguri to Darjeeling, or from Coimbatore to Ooty.

The vehicles will be charged in 60 minutes
Ather currently sells 450 Plus and 450X electric scooters. Vehicle owners can use the rapid charging station to charge their vehicle up to 80% at 1.5 km/min. According to this, it takes about 1 hour, i.e. 60 minutes, for electric vehicles to be charged to 80 percent. Apart from that, people can check the availability of nearby charging stations in real-time through the charging network’s Ather Grid app. This facility will be provided free of charge until March 2023.

Charging infrastructure will help a lot
Commenting on the performance, Ravneet Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy said: “A robust charging infrastructure will go a long way towards accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles. The company’s focus is on building the EV ecosystem. We have already invested in building India’s largest public fast charging network.”
