In addition to Ola, Hero Electric and Okinawa have also been notified.
Against FAME rules, Ola had charged Rs for the scooter charger.
Hero and Okinawa, on the other hand, imported more spare parts than they could have been produced domestically.
New Delhi. There is great news for Ola scooter owners. Following the government’s strictness, the Ola firm will now return Rs 9,000-19,000 to its customers. In fact, the company had collected Rs from its customers on behalf of the e-scooter charger. But the company couldn’t do this. Now, the Ministry of Heavy Industry has announced that from fiscal year 2019-20 to March 30 this year, the company will refund the payment made on behalf of the charger to those who buy the OLA S1 Pro model.
According to the information obtained by the ministry, the Ola company takes subsidies under Fame, and according to its rules, the charger money cannot be recovered from customers. On behalf of Ola Charger, customers were charged a higher price for the scooter. The Ministry had also received a complaint in this regard. When it was investigated, this complaint was found to be true. The ministry then took action against Ola.

Ola made a quick decision
Given the Ministry’s strictness, Ola made a quick decision. The company has said ahead of any action by the ministry that it will pay Rs 130 crores taken from customers on behalf of the charger. Although the company has not given any information on when and within what timeframe it will make this payment.
Note also to these companies
The Ministry has found Okinawa and Hero Electric guilty in yet another case. A statement has been issued by the Ministry in this regard. According to the information, a recovery notice of Rs 133 crore to Hero and Rs 116 crore to Okinawa was issued by the Ministry.

In fact, both companies have broken the regulations and used more imported spare parts in their vehicles. These spare parts could have been manufactured in India itself and a lot of money could have been saved. Companies also took advantage of state subsidies for these spare parts within the framework of FAME. If this turned out to be correct during the investigation, the Ministry issued recovery notices from both companies.
